I wouldn't say it is a "butcherer's translation", but that it is a rewritten script, very different from the Japanese one, obviously put together to make it more fluid and lighten the inevitable awkward animu moments. Personally, I put aside technicalities which I don't have the slightest issue with ("squad", "troop", "companies", who cares, really?) ![]() This is fiction, and who knows what is the size of a squad in a factional universe in a fictional continent called Europa in a fictional country called Gallia. More importantly it doesn't matter even if it's called Army Group 7. The rank doesn't matter either because different countries do it differently. ) Yes, but that still leaves the problem with commander's rank, or Welkin isn't a lieutenant in the anime? I like it how the wiki states that "Squad 7 is the seventh platoon of the Gallian Militia's 3rd Regiment", so maybe "Squad 7" is just 7th platoon's nickname, and not reffering to a military formation. So either the game got it wrong or the anime series got it wrong. Plus if it really is a platoon and not a squad then the anime series got it terribly wrong because the size of "whatever 7" is the tank + 11 (Alicia, Rosie, Largo, Susie, Marina, Oscar, Emile, Aisha, Edy, Homer and Karl), assuming I didn't forget anyone. Different countries (during different times) have different sized squads. ![]() Originally posted by Gekkibi:The size of a squad isn't defined anywhere. )Įdit: I did forget one of the more dominant characters, Jann. Or maybe Japanese army organisation differs very much from western ones in this regard? The size of a squad isn't defined anywhere. I don't want to make this into a realism discussion, I apologize. Platoon would make more sense because Welkin's rank.Ī Squad does not have 40 members, and tank support. ![]() Originally posted by Salty?!:If there is one problem I have, its that it should be the "7th Platoon" or "7th Company", not "Squad 7".
